Agents, Are You Changing With the Times?
With all the challenges today’s real estate agent faces, you need to use every tool at your disposal just to stay in business. Technological advances in the last ten years have completely changed the way agents need to run their business and if you are not changing with the technology, you are being left behind.
One thing that no agent can possible be without is their own website. This does not mean an extra page or two on your brokers’ site. It means your own personal site that is all about you and what you can bring to your clients. Your broker information will naturally be on there, but the site is designed and paid for by you. Do not forget to make sure the domain is in your name in case you change broker affiliations as well.
Another advance in the recent past is a laptop cellular card. These devices slide into your laptop and allow you to be online wherever you can get a cellular signal. This lets you work while sitting open houses between visitors, while having your morning coffee, or while waiting for clients to arrive at a showing. This also allows you to look up other properties in the area that may interest your clients if what you are showing misses the mark. No agent can really afford to be out of touch and with modern technology, they no longer have to.
Everyone know that e-mail has become the preferred method for business correspondence, but are you using it to its fullest advantage in your marketing efforts as well? If not, you are missing out on one of its greatest benefits. You want to be careful to only use it with current clients or people who have opted to receive it from your website. Never send out unsolicited e-mail (SPAM); it is illegal and the recipients will not look kindly upon you if you do.
