SEO Suggestions For Vacation Property Advertising

The foundation of a vacation rental property’s online success is laid with their keyword selection. By understanding how renters are looking for property to rent, they’ll be off to a much easier start and far ahead of their competition in their rental advertising efforts.

“Google Suggest” is a wonderful free tool that will provide you with some starting points for keyword identification. You’ve probably already noticed it as you type in search queries from the main Google site. It returns suggestions for search queries in list format for search terms that are similar to or expand upon what you’ve typed in.

So, for example, a vacation property owner might be interested in typing in a broad term, like “Your Town, Vacation”. Then a list of auto-complete suggestions will appear. It’s important to note that by starting off broad, Google will return words that are not relevant, but also ones that you hadn’t considered. For example, when I typed in “Pocono Mountain Vacation” it returned “Pocono Mountain Vacation House” which was not a word choice that I would have used or considered. However, you bet I will be looking up the traffic on that word to see what it’s actually pulling in a month.

One of the key features of search engines is that they try to correct misspellings and guide their visitors in the direction of the search terms they think you are looking for. This tool from Google is incredibly helpful in your quest to determine your most profitable keywords.

Once again, when you understand how your renters are finding you, your job to advertise your property becomes a lot easier!
